Hurricane

Don’t want to hear
the hurricane has landed.
Deadly winds topple
all palm trees in its path
and toss buildings
around like ping pong balls.
Entire cities now look like ghost towns.
An eerie ocean mist blankets every city.
People are stranded everywhere.
Streets are littered with debris.
Desperate relatives make last minute calls
to check on family staring at the hurricane.
People on social media make
requests for prayer-chains.
Divine intervention requests are endless.
Certain death knocks on every door.
An entire country readies for the worst.
Citizens are hostage to the hurricane,
and will remain enslaved for months to come.
